About The Position

SUMMARY Directs and defines activities associated with refueling services to ensure plant refueling, outage, turbine project services, dry cask project services, and reactor support activities are planned and executed in accordance with Technical Specifications, plant procedures, policies, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements. Coordinates cross functional station support and contractor/vendor activities associated with refueling outages and reactor/turbine/dry cask services. Responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards of safety, performance, and operational excellence while supporting outage execution, emergent issues, and long term refueling readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science, or related technical field.
  • Without a degree, 5 years’ experience in one or a combination of Nuclear Plant Operations, Maintenance, Refueling/Outage Services, Plant Construction or Startup, Engineering, or Navy Nuclear Operations or Maintenance.
  • 8 years of any combination of Nuclear Plant Operations (Ops), Maintenance, Refueling Services, Outage Management, Engineering, Plant Construction or Startup, or Military Nuclear Operations or Maintenance.
  • Without the above, 7 years in any combination of Nuclear Plant Operations (Ops), Maintenance, Refueling Services, Plant Construction or Startup, or Military Nuclear Operations or Maintenance with a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license may be considered.
  • 3 years of previous supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Deep understanding of Nuclear NSSS Systems and refueling at operating nuclear plants
  • Technical background in Nuclear Power or comparable industrial power plant project management
  • Prior experience managing projects and supervising personnel in a commercial plant
  • Current or former SRO license/certification
  • Ability to interpret and implement the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Ability to interface effectively with management, bargaining unit personnel, contractors, and Union representatives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear station operations, outage/refueling activities, applicable regulatory requirements, and station processes and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
  • Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and defines activities associated with refueling services to support safe, effective, and efficient refueling outage execution and reactor support activities.
  • Oversees planning, coordination, and execution of refueling activities, outage support, reactor services, and emergent work activities.
  • Coordinates cross functional station support, including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Radiation Protection, Supply Chain, and contractor/vendor organizations to support outage objectives.
  • Ensures activities are conducted in accordance with Technical Specifications, plant procedures, policies, NRC requirements, and nuclear safety standards.
  • Assists assigned personnel in analyzing technical issues and correcting problems to mitigate outage schedule impacts.
  • Ensures timely problem identification, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives associated with refueling and outage performance.
  • Oversees department Corrective Action Program (CAP) activities and establishes timelines to close open items.
  • Coordinates and chairs meetings with departments, management, and executive personnel related to outage readiness and execution.
  • Supports long range outage planning, outage readiness, post outage critiques, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Represents the organization on internal work teams, committees, and external industry groups, as applicable.
  • Ability to interpret and implement the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Ability to interface effectively with management, bargaining unit personnel, contractors, and Union representatives.
  • Maintains knowledge of company processes, procedures, and long-term station goals.
  • Ensures employee development plans are in place and followed to support succession planning, technical expertise, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Performs personnel activities for direct reports (promotions, salary changes, counseling, performance appraisals, and performance management).
  • Prepares and delivers oral and written communications relating to work group, outage, and station activities (e.g., reports, presentations, department meetings, outage briefings).
  • Monitors work group reports and recommendations to assure evaluations, assessments, outage support, and work execution are effectively developed and communicated.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate technical expertise within the work group to ensure adequate talent to support refueling services, outage execution, and program oversight.
  • Represents department/company on internal work teams, committees, and with external entities, contractors, and industry organizations, as applicable.
  • Maintains composure and decision making effectiveness in high stress, emergent, or adverse situations.
  • Understands and implements company policies, procedures, and nuclear safety standards.
  • Provides employees with the tools, training, and resources necessary to perform assignments safely and effectively.
  • Maintains fiscal records and procedures of the department to ensure effective and efficient operations while supporting outage and station objectives.
  • Understands and manages to financial and budget targets, including contractor/vendor resources and outage related expenditures.
  • Proactively monitors and interprets ongoing financial performance and responds strategically to support operational and outage objectives.
  • Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions and takes accountability for financial decisions within assigned area.
  • Accept ERO position as needed.
  • Accept outage position as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
