About The Position

StubHub is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the AI Engineering team, its AI Center of Excellence. The team builds and operates shared infrastructure, platforms, frameworks, and engineering foundations that help teams across StubHub use AI safely and effectively. Its work spans foundational platform capabilities, reusable frameworks, and end-to-end AI-powered solutions that improve employee productivity, work quality, and business operations. This is a technical and organizational leadership role responsible for shaping and executing AI engineering strategy and helping turn evolving AI capabilities into reliable products and systems. The manager will provide direction in an ambiguous, fast-moving technical area; establish priorities and ownership; strengthen execution; develop engineers and technical leaders; and balance foundational platform work with high-value solutions. The role partners with senior leadership, Staff engineers, technical leads, and teams across StubHub. It is based in Aliso Viejo, California.

Requirements

At least 7 years of software engineering experience, including meaningful technical ownership of complex production systems.
At least 3 years of direct people leadership experience, including meaningful ownership of hiring, coaching, performance reviews, promotions, performance improvement, and difficult talent decisions.
Experience leading technically strong engineering teams across career levels and partnering effectively with Senior and Staff-level engineers.
Strong technical judgment and recent participation in system design, architecture, and engineering-quality decisions.
Experience building or operating AI-powered products, developer platforms, engineering productivity systems, or other technically complex platform capabilities in production.
Practical understanding of modern AI systems, including areas such as LLM-powered applications, agents, orchestration, evaluation, observability, reliability, and safeguards.
Ability to distinguish promising prototypes from production-ready systems and establish practices for reliably operating AI capabilities at scale.
Ability to work from first principles, create direction without a complete playbook, prioritize effectively, and deliver in a fast-moving technical environment.
Experience balancing foundational platform investments with immediate product or business needs and making thoughtful build, partner, and enablement decisions.
A track record of building high-performing teams, delivering candid feedback, developing engineers and technical leaders, and maintaining a high performance bar.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a high-performing AI engineering team through clear expectations, coaching, performance management, and development of senior technical leaders.
Translate evolving AI capabilities and company needs into achievable engineering plans, clarify ownership, manage dependencies, make tradeoffs, and drive predictable delivery.
Guide development and operation of shared AI infrastructure, platforms, and frameworks for safely and efficiently building, evaluating, deploying, and operating AI-powered solutions.
Lead end-to-end AI engineering efforts on high-value problems, from opportunity identification through building, evaluation, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
Decide when AI Engineering should own a solution, partner with another team, or provide reusable capabilities and guidance for other teams.
Establish engineering practices for AI system evaluation, reliability, safety, observability, and production readiness.
Partner with senior leadership, Staff engineers, and technical leads on architecture, system design, engineering tradeoffs, and technical quality while supporting technical ownership within the team.
Measure AI investments using adoption, satisfaction, productivity, experimentation, delivery, and user-impact signals.
Partner with engineering leaders and teams across StubHub to understand problems, prioritize opportunities, and translate AI capabilities into practical business outcomes.
