About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Engineering Manager 2 to support the Sentinel Program in Manhattan Beach, CA. This is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities (up to 20% of time) and program responsibilities (80% of time). As a Functional Home Room (FHR) manager, you will report to an SDS Electrical Department Manager and provide career mentorship and operational support to a team of 10-15 Individual Contributors (ICs). Key FHR responsibilities include recruiting, staffing, retaining talent, performance management, and training. For the technical scope, you will be responsible for Command Systems (CS) hardware analysis, leading a diverse analysis team (structural, electrical, thermal analysts), and reporting to the IPT Lead. You will work with program leadership to assess issues, develop solutions for productivity, quality, and cost/schedule objectives, and develop/maintain team progress metrics. You will also support earn value tracking and reporting, control and assign tasking, participate in technical reviews, and interface with internal and external customers. Participation in ROM development and Basis of Estimates is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Experience in technical leadership/management role.
  • Experience in writing and presenting technical content.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of and experience with engineering analysis principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Abaqus, Ansys, FEMAP, MATHCAD, Capital or equivalents
  • At least 1 year leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Experience with one or more of the following languages: VBA, Python, MATLAB
  • Strong experience leading teams and training others.
  • Experience with individual contributor performance assessments
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Operates independently with limited to no supervision, and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers
  • Experience developing and implementing analytic methods to support test, validation, and qualification
  • TeamCenter CPLM experience
  • Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.

Responsibilities
