About The Position

As an Engineering Lead, you will lead a cross-functional product engineering squad building complex B2B SaaS products across HR, employee benefits and fintech. This is a true player-coach role: you'll manage 4-8 engineers across frontend, backend and mobile, while staying hands-on in the code to lead by example. Working closely with Product, Design and the CTO, you’ll balance people leadership, delivery, technical direction and cross-functional collaboration equally. Your mission is to help your team ship high-quality software, grow into stronger product engineers and continue adopting AI-native and agentic ways of working that help us move faster, work smarter and raise the bar on quality. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a high-ownership, high-impact environment. Our teams are small, which means that autonomy and accountability are real and the work you do will be felt across the business.

Requirements

  • Experience line managing engineers and helping them grow into stronger, more confident product engineers
  • Senior-level expertise in at least some areas of our stack: Python, Django, TypeScript, React, React Native, Celery or Temporal
  • A track record of shipping high-quality products in B2B SaaS environments
  • A real enthusiasm for AI tooling and agentic development workflows, with a desire to keep pushing adoption further
  • The ability to move comfortably between coding, coaching, technical decision-making and stakeholder conversations
  • Experience working in product engineering environments, ideally using Shape Up or similar product development processes
  • A high bar for accountability, ownership and follow-through for both yourself and your team

Responsibilities

  • Line managing 4-8 product engineers in a cross-functional squad, supporting their growth through clear expectations, regular feedback and objective performance evaluation
  • Staying hands-on in the code along your team, contributing to strategic, high-impact work and leading by example on quality, pace and engineering craft
  • Providing technical guidance on complex B2B SaaS products and features across the HR, employee benefits, and fintech domains
  • Partnering closely with Product and Design to shape solutions, challenge complexity and make smart trade-offs on scope & delivery
  • Owning squad delivery end-to-end, helping the team deliver on commitments and ship with consistency & quality
  • Mentoring engineers on technical problem-solving, system design and career development
  • Driving the adoption of AI tooling and agentic development workflows across the squad and wider engineering org in practical thoughtful ways
  • Building a high-performing, accountable team culture where engineers are supported, stretched and recognised for great work
