As an Engineering Lead, you will lead a cross-functional team of engineers to deliver on a specific product mission while serving as the senior technical leader for your team’s functional area. You will be a hands-on contributor to the product development process, leveraging AI tools and modern engineering practices to improve development velocity, code quality, and technical decision-making. You will guide and mentor engineers, collaborate closely with product and engineering leadership, and help shape a scalable, secure, and high-performing platform alongside a strong engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Previous experience leading cross-functional engineering teams, typically consisting of 4–6 engineers across frontend, backend, and full-stack disciplines.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and team velocity.
  • Strong expertise building frontend applications with React and Typescript or backend systems with Elixir and Phoenix.
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Experience working with Typescript and GraphQL.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including infrastructure management and deployments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building GraphQL APIs with Apollo Client and Absinthe.
  • Experience with Vercel and Next.js.
  • Understanding of Postgres database design and optimization.
  • DevOps experience deploying and configuring AWS services and Kubernetes infrastructure using Terraform.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a small cross-functional team of engineers, partnering with a product manager and designer to assess priorities, and owning the day-to-day execution of the team's roadmap to consistently deliver high-quality releases on time.
  • Acting as a hands-on technical leader with strong expertise in one or more of Typescript, React, and Elixir.
  • Owning the software architecture and technical direction across your team’s functional domain.
  • Championing the adoption of AI technologies and AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate delivery and elevate engineering standards.
  • Maintaining a high standard for code quality, attention to detail, and engineering excellence that inspires the broader team.
  • Ensuring systems are secure, performant, scalable, and operationally reliable in production environments.
  • Evaluating technical approaches and partnering with leadership to make informed architectural and product decisions.
  • Conducting code reviews and ensuring the team ships complete, maintainable, and well-tested features.
  • Advocating for engineering best practices and continuously improving internal processes and developer workflows.
  • Supporting the hiring and onboarding of a growing engineering organization.
  • Mentoring engineers across varying levels of experience to help them grow their technical and professional skills.
  • Working closely with founders, product leadership, and stakeholders in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Adapting quickly to changing priorities and thriving in a rapidly evolving company.
