Engineering Lead
About The Position
Flashpoint is seeking an Engineering Lead II to take technical ownership of Echosec, Strategic Entity Data, and Identify. This role involves leading a small, senior, and productive team that works across a Laravel platform, a Python AI service, and a data pipeline for sensitive breach and leak data. The ideal candidate will enjoy owning both the architecture and the roadmap, staying involved in the code to maintain team trust, and making critical sequencing decisions. This position is a partnership with a Product Manager, focusing on the technical direction of products used by customers to proactively identify threats. The systems owned are crucial for this threat detection capability.
Requirements
- Led a team of five to eight engineers that owned a customer-facing product end to end, accountable for the roadmap, architecture, and on-call rotation.
- Experience running production workloads on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience inheriting a mature application, making it measurably safer to change without a full rewrite.
- Owned a quarterly commitment cycle end to end: scoped work, published dates, and raised flags early for any slips.
- Treat growth and retention as part of the job.
- Maintained sufficient code involvement for team credibility without becoming a bottleneck.
- Experience managing engineers as their direct manager, including performance conversations, career development, promotion advocacy, and hiring.
- Production experience with a mature server-side web application at scale (PHP and Laravel specifically, or comparable depth in another framework with a willingness to work in PHP/Laravel).
- Hands-on experience running services on Kubernetes with managed Postgres and Redis in a public cloud.
- Experience owning production reliability: on-call rotations, incident command, post-incident review, and closing out action items.

Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction of three product surfaces: Echosec, SED, and Identify, and the architecture that connects them.
- Lead the Echosec platform, a mature Laravel application running on Kubernetes.
- Advance the AI layer, a Python service powering natural-language search, summarization, and agentic reporting over threat data.
- Own the Strategic Entity Data API and ingestion pipeline, including architectural decisions regarding cost, scale, and data quality.
- Partner directly with the Product Manager and other engineering teams across Flashpoint.
- Grow a team of senior engineers, owning their career paths, promotions, and performance.
- Represent the team in key decision-making forums such as KPI reviews, commitment reviews, and cross-team architecture forums.
