About The Position

SPP is seeking an Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2027. This is a 10-12 week, 40 hours per week, project-based internship where interns will complete real work supporting the company's business goals. The internship is paid, and housing will be provided if needed. Team activities may be scheduled after hours, and each intern will be required to deliver a presentation at the end of their internship. Essential Functions include developing fundamental understanding of transmission system concepts and gaining knowledge of associated software, as well as competence with administrative and communication tools. Engineering Responsibilities involve completing specific assignments directed by ad hoc stakeholder/committees, transmission planning services, tariff studies, or network modeling and engineering data coordination efforts. Teamwork and Leadership Skills require providing basic technical support to help project groups meet aggressive time schedules. Requirements

A college student entering their Sr. year working toward a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Degree should be in a calculus-based engineering field such as: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering.
An expressed desire to work in the Power industry after graduation.
3.0 GPA or above.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Be competent with administrative and communication tools for word processing, spreadsheet development, and timekeeping.
Develop a fundamental understanding of transmission system concepts.
Gain knowledge of software associated with the area of responsibility.
Enthusiastically complete specific assignments directed by ad hoc stakeholder/committees, transmission planning services, tariff studies, or network modeling and engineering data coordination efforts.
Provide basic technical support to help project groups meet aggressive time schedules.
Incorporate a fundamental working understanding of the SPP Culture Drivers, Mission, and Core Values and apply this directly to all engineering assignments and any SPP related effort.
