About The Position

The Simplot Company is hiring a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry intern in its Mining & Manufacturing department. Based at the Frontier Building in Pocatello, Idaho, the intern will support phosphate ore mining and the production of phosphate- and ammonia-based fertilizers. The role involves helping develop new products and processes and refine existing processes. Duties will be tailored to the intern’s degree program. The internship is full time, starts in May 2027, and is preferred to last approximately eight months.

Requirements

• Currently working toward a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.
• Able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine chemical engineering or chemistry work, applying basic principles under close supervision.
• Use computer-assisted software and equipment to perform engineering or chemistry tasks as needed.
• Assist with laboratory and pilot-scale testing and evaluation, both indoors and outdoors.
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation.
• Assist with project coordination from feasibility through preparation of final plans.
• Handle administrative duties.
• Provide support to staff members as needed.
• May support multiple Mining & Manufacturing facilities in California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming.
