Engineering Intern, Product Development Analytics

About The Position

We’re looking for an Engineering Intern to join our Product Development & Engineering team and take on a high-impact project building a portfolio tracking system used across multiple brands. Right now, project visibility lives in too many places. Teams rely on Gantt charts, spreadsheets, and conversations to understand what’s on track, what’s slipping, and where resources are stretched. This role is about pulling that together into one clear, usable view. You’ll start by learning how our product development process actually works, including how projects move through phases, how Agile practices are applied, and how teams operate day to day. From there, you’ll design and build a working dashboard in Power BI or Excel that tracks project status, milestones, dependencies, and resource utilization across the full portfolio. This is not a throwaway intern project. The end result is something the team will use regularly to guide planning, track sprint performance, and make better decisions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or similar preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills, including working with structured data, formulas, and pivot tables
  • Basic understanding of engineering workflows, project lifecycles, or Agile concepts
  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take an ambiguous problem and turn it into something structured and usable

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools is helpful but not required
  • Experience with Power Query, Power Automate, or SharePoint
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks (sprints, stand-ups, velocity tracking)
  • Experience building tools or dashboards that others actually use

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers and project leads to understand how projects move through our development process
  • Analyze existing tools like Gantt charts and internal systems to identify key data inputs
  • Define the data structure for a portfolio tracker, including project phases, milestones, dependencies, and resource allocation
  • Build a dashboard in Power BI or Excel that provides clear visibility into project status and performance
  • Help track Agile metrics like sprint progress, velocity, and resource utilization over time
  • Iterate on the tool based on real feedback from the team
  • Document the data model and maintenance process so the tool remains usable long-term
  • Optionally support related efforts like documentation standardization and engineering templates

Benefits

  • A real, production-level project you can point to, not just a demo
  • Hands-on exposure to how a multi-brand engineering organization manages a complex project portfolio
  • Experience working directly with engineers and leadership to define and build something from the ground up
  • Insight into Agile workflows, resource planning, and product development operations
