About The Position

The Product Engineering at Cleaver-Brooks serves as a key link between our technical designs and our customers. This role is perfect for an engineering student who wants to see how "real world" problems are solved—moving beyond the classroom to help our representative (rep) network find the right boiler solutions for their specific needs. Under the direct supervision of the Technical Manager and Product Engineering Lead, you will learn the fundamentals of boiler science and heat transfer. Your goal is to become a knowledgeable resource who can assist our sales team with technical questions, help validate customer applications, and ensure our reps have the drawings and data they need to be successful. You won't just be stuck in one department; you'll get a well-rounded look at the entire packaged boiler business. Requirements

  • Minimum of Sophomore status in a four-year Engineering degree program, preferably Mechanical.
  • Basic understanding of data analysis, and bills of materials.
  • Ability to use Excel for calculations and data organization.
  • Curiosity: A strong desire to learn the "how and why" behind boiler technology and how it helps our customers.
  • Communication: Ability to talk through technical ideas clearly with team members and eventually with external partners.
  • Reliability: You are detail-oriented and can be trusted to see a task through to the end.
  • Team Player: You enjoy working as part of a group and are happy to jump in and help wherever the team needs it most.
  • Self-Starter: You are motivated to look for answers and take initiative on your assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in modernizing our engineering archives by auditing and scanning legacy technical data, ensuring that historical design knowledge is preserved and easily accessible for future projects.
  • Review documentation for older installed equipment, helping our team provide accurate support for customers with long-standing boiler systems.
  • Ensure that historical specifications and older product submittals are accurately cataloged within our digital ERP and Salesforce environments.
  • Help answer technical questions from our sales reps and assist them in navigating our product catalogs and technical documents.
  • Perform basic analysis on product sales data and sales trends to help the department identify areas for product improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist engineers in updating product technical information and catalogs and content is accurate.
  • Help research and resolve issues or technical specification questions for industrial boilers and their auxiliary equipment through case resolution system.
  • Use the ERP system to look up existing drawings and data to support ongoing internal and external projects.
