Product Engineering Intern

Cleaver-BrooksMilwaukee, WI
Onsite

About The Position

The Product Engineering at Cleaver-Brooks serves as a key link between technical designs and customers. This role is designed for an engineering student interested in solving "real world" problems, helping the representative (rep) network find appropriate boiler solutions. Under the direct supervision of the Technical Manager and Product Engineering Lead, the intern will learn boiler science and heat transfer fundamentals. The goal is to become a knowledgeable resource, assisting the sales team with technical questions, validating customer applications, and providing reps with necessary drawings and data. The position offers a comprehensive view of the entire packaged boiler business, not just a single department.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Sophomore status in a four-year Engineering degree program, preferably Mechanical.
  • Basic understanding of data analysis, and bills of materials.
  • Ability to use Excel for calculations and data organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Curiosity: A strong desire to learn the "how and why" behind boiler technology and how it helps our customers.
  • Communication: Ability to talk through technical ideas clearly with team members and eventually with external partners.
  • Reliability: You are detail-oriented and can be trusted to see a task through to the end.
  • Team Player: You enjoy working as part of a group and are happy to jump in and help wherever the team needs it most.
  • Self-Starter: You are motivated to look for answers and take initiative on your assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in modernizing engineering archives by auditing and scanning legacy technical data to preserve historical design knowledge and ensure accessibility for future projects.
  • Help bridge the gap between "classic" Cleaver-Brooks units and modern technology by reviewing documentation for older installed equipment to provide accurate support for customers.
  • Ensure historical specifications and older product submittals are accurately cataloged within digital ERP and Salesforce environments.
  • Help answer technical questions from sales reps and assist them in navigating product catalogs and technical documents.
  • Perform basic analysis on product sales data and sales trends to help identify areas for product improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist engineers in updating product technical information and catalogs to ensure content accuracy.
  • Help research and resolve issues or technical specification questions for industrial boilers and their auxiliary equipment through a case resolution system.
  • Use the ERP system to look up existing drawings and data to support ongoing internal and external projects.
