About The Position

This internship focuses on electronic controls within an engineering program. The intern will gain experience in designing and troubleshooting electronic circuits, electrical control cabinets, and integrated PLC/CNC systems. Responsibilities also include maintaining machine software, backups, and electrical preventative maintenance routines. The role involves analyzing operational problems, developing design/programming modifications for efficiency improvements, and assisting with training on installation, maintenance, and repair techniques. Additionally, the intern will help update documentation for maintenance procedures, contribute to process improvements and cost reduction projects, and participate in problem-solving activities. The position requires a willingness to work in a plant/manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a four-year engineering program
  • Must be 1-2 years away from graduation
  • Willingness to work in a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience with Design and Drafting Software: SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Experience with PLC/HMI Programming Software: Siemens Fanuc, Allen Bradley, etc.
  • Experience with Software Development: C++, Visual Studio, Basic, etc.
  • Capability to reach electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, and hydraulic machine prints
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and take initiative
  • Consistently demonstrate critical and innovative thinking skills
  • Must be able to collaborate and work effectively with anyone

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with engines and machining is preferred but not required
  • Project Management skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing and troubleshooting electronic circuits, electrical control cabinets, and integrated PLC/CNC systems
  • Assist with maintaining machine software, machine backups, and maintenance electrical PM routines
  • Analyzes operational problems and develops modifications in design/programming to improve efficiency
  • Assist with training in installation, maintenance, and repair techniques
