About The Position

Hood Plywood, a division of Hood Industries, Inc. is seeking an Electronic Controls Supervisor for our Beaumont facility. This is a greenfield site that will employ up to 250 employees. This position would play a key role in the successful development and implementation of an automated production process.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience in electrical and instrument/control crafts.
  • Competent in operating pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in Control Logix and RS Logix programming, including hardware and firmware integration.
  • Experienced in device configuration on networks using software interfaces.
  • Knowledge of networking Cisco and Rockwell hardware components, including Stratix serial switches and PowerFlex drives.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • 4-year engineering degree in electrical, control systems and/or similar field or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of professional electronic/ controls experience and 5-7 years of related experience.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in the use of advanced controls techniques through a combination of hands-on experience and specialized training on electrical and/or instrument/control.
  • 1-2 years in leading and developing technical direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and assist with managing the people responsibilities for the automation specialist and automation tech.
  • Participate/compliance with company safety program and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair instrument, electronic, and electrical equipment on the site to manufacturers specifications.
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting programmable logic control systems and equipment operating systems. This will include design and development of programs.
  • Evaluate and develop in-house plant instrumentation resources.
  • Provide technical expertise in automation/ robotics.
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting electrical equipment as such motors, switchgear, and motor control centers during start-up and day-to-day operations beyond the capabilities of plant personnel.
  • Design and develop graphical user screens utilized within human machine interfaces (HMI’s).
  • Troubleshoot and configure control communication networks, such as ControlNet, Device Net and Ethernet I/P.
  • Modify control system logic and industrial machinery to optimize equipment performance and control.
  • Perform oversight of OEM control and electrical modifications.
  • Assist in training level progression for the automation team.
  • Read and understand pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and electronic documentation and drawings, and interpret equipment data.
  • Test, inspect, and adjust control instrumentation and determine causes of instrument malfunction.
