The WebSphere team, part of Citi’s Global Mainframe Business Integration (BI) group, focuses on supporting and customizing IBM WebSphere software and associated products like z/OS Connect, LDAP, Certificates, DMZ LPARS, and uDeploy. This team collaborates closely with other BI teams supporting CICS, MQ, OCM, z/OS, and z/Linux. This is a management position leading a team of 12 zOS WebSphere System Engineers. The Infrastructure Operations Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting WebSphere servers and third-party software, driving improvements in infrastructure platform performance, quality, reliability, and capacity optimization. The role requires a team player capable of mentoring junior colleagues and coordinating with experts.

Requirements

  • 10 + years of experience in infrastructure technology specialization, preferably in a comparable technology and financial institutions organization.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Understanding of work prioritization.
  • Skills and proficiency with MS PowerPoint, Excel, Access or other analytical tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or Engineering degree preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • At least five years’ experience installing, configuring, and supporting IBM’s WebSphere products (Traditional WebSphere and Liberty Profile Application Server).
  • Experience with z/OS Connect (training provided if not present).
  • Knowledge of creating and installing certificates on z/OS platform (a plus).
  • Ansible Tower knowledge (a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and direction in infrastructure technology specialization to support platforms and sectors.
  • Apply engineering discipline to deliver critical platform support and optimize platform/sector functionality.
  • Fully understand, support, and define platforms and areas supported to minimize risks and impact to customers.
  • Provide On-Call support as part of a rotation.
  • Review issues and escalations, and resolve production problems, reporting status and technical matters to management.
  • Utilize skillset to provide support, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning within the technical domain.
  • Support the creation and implementation of system improvements to enhance performance and reliability while maintaining controls.
  • Install, configure, and support IBM’s WebSphere products, including Traditional WebSphere and Liberty Profile Application Server.
  • Create, configure, and support z/OS Connect.
  • Create and install certificates on the z/OS platform.
  • Utilize Ansible Tower.
