The Group Senior Vice President (GSVP) is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall health, growth, and strategic direction of a significant portfolio of biotech clients. This role partners closely with Client Relationship Leaders and Practice Leadership to shape long‑term client strategy, drive integrated programs across disciplines, and ensure Spectrum is showing up as a trusted, high‑impact partner at the enterprise level. We are seeking a leader with deep experience guiding corporate, program, and product communications from late‑stage development through commercialization, with the ability to elevate narrative, anticipate inflection points, and integrate communications across the business. This role suits an accomplished leader who is equally strong in client leadership, strategic counsel, and internal team stewardship, someone who enjoys hands-on engagement with senior clients while also helping to build scalable systems, talent, and ways of working that support firm growth.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of life science / pharma / biotech communications experience; agency experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading multi‑account portfolios and senior client relationships
  • Deep experience with late‑stage clinical programs, regulatory milestones, and early commercialization
  • Strong background in corporate communications, issues management, and executive positioning
  • Prior experience in oncology and/or immunology strongly preferred
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, writing, and client‑facing communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire senior teams while remaining hands‑on where it matters
  • Highly organized, decisive, and comfortable operating in complexity
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of accountability and discretion

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior‑level strategic counsel to executive clients across a portfolio of biotech accounts
  • Partner with Client Relationship Leaders to shape long‑range communications strategy tied to business, pipeline, and corporate objectives
  • Serve as escalation point for complex client situations, high‑stakes moments, and reputational risk
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and strategic clarity across all client engagements
  • Lead development of integrated corporate, product, and program communications strategies across the client portfolio
  • Guide messaging and narrative development tied to clinical data, regulatory milestones, financing events, and commercialization
  • Partner across practices (media, medical, digital, brand, consulting) to deliver cohesive, cross‑disciplinary solutions
  • Identify opportunities to expand and deepen client relationships through proactive, high‑value engagement
  • Contribute meaningfully to new business development, pitches, and thought leadership
  • Actively shape best practices, operating models, and standards for the Biotech client services group
  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders and teams, fostering accountability, growth, and collaboration
  • Support workforce planning, staffing strategy, and talent development across the group
