About The Position

Join the Engineering team as an Engineering Co-op supporting manufacturing processes. The role involves researching and resolving production problems, addressing operating system issues, and helping develop and implement standards for process equipment, tooling, and methods. The co-op works with manufacturing and quality teams on process improvement, project engineering, inspection methods, and quality and reliability data.

Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university studying Mechanical Engineering.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Required vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Frequently required to stand and/or sit.
Regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Responsibilities

Participate in the Dodge safety program.
Create, improve, and implement manufacturing processes using technologies such as machine automation, 3D printing, robotics, gear hobbing, induction heat treating, CNC programming, and tool design.
Develop and implement best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and output quality, including reducing scrap and downtime, increasing first-pass yield (FPY) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and reducing warranty PPM.
Use Lean, Six Sigma, and other best-practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.
Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Assist manufacturing engineering in supporting the business and production unit.
Attend and participate in regular engineering meetings.
Participate in project engineering efforts related to equipment, tooling, and materials.
Assist the quality department in developing standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
Assist with recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
