About The Position

This co-op position is designed to help students confirm their interest in becoming an Operations Engineer. Participants will be tasked with real company projects that will provide an understanding of the role and responsibilities of working in manufacturing. Projects will involve incorporating new machines and maximizing efficiencies into the company's processes, impacting bottom-line company results. The co-op will include in-depth training on Rust-Oleum's Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing Initiatives, including Toyota Production System training covering 5S, 8 Wastes, Quick Changeover (SMED), and Root Cause Problem Solving. Specific projects will focus on processing, milling, and paint making operations, including equipment and process changes to improve efficiency, throughput, and safety. Additional projects may involve Lean & Six Sigma activities or efficiency and safety projects for the packaging production area.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree relevant to operations engineering or manufacturing.
Ability to commit to the full co-op period from January 2027 to August 2027.
Willingness to learn about manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies.

Nice To Haves

Interest in confirming a career path in Operations Engineering.
Familiarity with concepts such as 5S, 8 Wastes, Quick Changeover (SMED), and Root Cause Problem Solving.
Exposure to Lean & Six Sigma principles.
