About The Position

Federal Equipment Company is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Intern to join our team. As an Intern, you will be taking on impactful work while engaging in a dynamic learning experience and working side by side with our team. As a Co-Op, you will be taking on impactful work, while engaging in a dynamic learning experience, and working as a valued member of our team.

Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this job opening.
  • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, reference verification, post-offer drug testing and background check
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Strong organizational, project management and inter-personal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate well with both management, office staff, and craft labor on the shop floor
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Proven ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Dedication to creating a safe workplace free of all injuries
  • Completing work as assigned and meeting all deadlines
  • Routinely communicating with department staff and informing them of any difficulties in completing work

Responsibilities

  • Determine design parameters with Engineering Manager, Project Engineer and Sales Engineer in the kick-off meeting, if applicable
  • Writes advance purchase requisitions for long delivery items.
  • Write all additional purchase requisitions required for each job and submit all requisitions to Engineering Manager
  • Review proposal, pre-engineering form and customer specs.
  • Advise the Engineering Manager or Project Engineer of any problems
  • Advise Engineering Manager or Project Engineer of any design problems and work with them on possible solutions
  • Prepare detailed drawings
  • Prepare shop order forms
  • Run blueprints as required for customer approval, shop fabrication, field installation, purchasing, etc.
  • Keep accurate time records and submit to Engineering Manager at the end of each workweek
  • Observe shop progress daily and advise Engineering Manager or Project Engineer as to any problems that exist or possible problems that might exist
  • Work with Engineering Manager or Project Engineer as requested to solve equipment installation problems
  • Other duties as assigned
