About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate – Enterprise Integration & Messaging to support mission‑critical enterprise integration platforms that enable standardized, secure, and reliable data flow across customer and account domains. This role supports enterprise message broker technologies within the broader technology organization, helping connect legacy mainframe systems with modern distributed applications through asynchronous, message‑driven architectures. In this role, you will assist with the development, enhancement, and support of message‑based integration solutions built on IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and IBM MQ, running on Linux. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will work with message transformation, validation, enrichment, routing logic, and enterprise integration patterns to ensure reliable near‑real‑time data distribution across platforms. This position is ideal for early‑career engineers who want hands‑on experience with enterprise middleware, messaging systems, and highly reliable distributed platforms, while gaining exposure to both modern application ecosystems and legacy infrastructure in a regulated, high‑availability environment. You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience. The CODE Program offers meaningful, real-world work combined with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations. Requirements

  • 6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Ability to follow established enterprise standards and procedures, with attention to detail and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Experience communicating technical issues or access-related concerns across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Academic or hands‑on exposure to IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM MQ, or similar integration or messaging technologies.
  • Experience working with structured data formats such as XML and JSON.
  • Foundational understanding of enterprise integration concepts and message‑driven architectures.
  • Basic understanding of asynchronous processing, guaranteed delivery, and transactional integrity.
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Java, Python, or shell scripting).
  • Familiarity with Linux or Unix command‑line environments (Linux exposure a plus).
  • Exposure to version control systems such as Git.
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts, including HTTP/S and TCP/IP.
  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and support of IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) message flows.
  • Implement and support message transformation, validation, enrichment, and routing logic across enterprise customer and account domains.
  • Support IBM MQ–based asynchronous, message‑driven integration patterns to ensure reliable message delivery.
  • Work with multiple data formats, including XML, JSON, COBOL copybook‑based messages, and AVRO.
  • Assist with protocol mediation across MQ, HTTP/S, SMTP, and TCP/IP channels.
  • Help enable interoperability between legacy mainframe systems and modern distributed applications without tight coupling.
  • Participate in monitoring and basic troubleshooting of message broker runtimes deployed on Linux servers, including execution groups and message flows.
  • Follow enterprise standards for logging, error handling, exception management, and coding practices.
  • Assist with unit testing, integration testing, deployment activities, and operational support tasks.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, QA, and operations teams to deliver reliable integration solutions.
  • Participate in incident analysis and root‑cause investigations under guidance.
  • Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities.
