The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Central Region Design, Engineering, and Construction Services, is looking for an Engineering Assistant 1/2 Flex in Anchorage to help us Keep Alaska Moving! This position involves assisting with both the utility permit and utility relocation programs. At the Engineering Assistant 1 level, duties include evaluating utility permits, recommending modifications or approval based on safety and infrastructure integrity, and coordinating with local utility companies to resolve conflicts. Project assignments will consist of pavement preservation projects and other low complexity highway and aviation projects. At the Engineering Assistant 2 level, responsibilities include negotiating utility relocation agreements, facilitating physical relocation work during construction, working closely with construction teams and contractors, reviewing bills for accuracy, and finalizing project documentation. This level involves multiple projects of intermediate complexity. The Traffic, Safety, and Utilities Section within DOT&PF's Central Region manages traffic operations and facilitates utility relocation for highway and airport improvements, contributing to the mission of "Keep Alaska Moving."
