About The Position

Responsible for designing the outside plant network from the central office to the customer premise, including underground, aerial, and buried plant for new construction and maintenance activity in the Frontier network. The role uses current and evolving technologies, records, databases, and design tools to prepare and coordinate network designs, orders, estimates, and projects.

Requirements

A four-year Electrical Engineering degree is highly preferred.
Three or more years of experience designing outside plant and electronic systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

Use current and evolving technologies, including digital loop carrier, broadband, and DSL, to complete work assignments.
Use personal computers and/or paper records to obtain information, design circuits, and distribute circuit orders.
Use automated design programs and computer-assisted drafting tools where available.
Coordinate with other organizations throughout the provisioning process to facilitate accurate designs.
Use outside plant methods and procedures and multiple databases to prepare designs.
Use service order systems to resolve errors and manage assignment inventory, digital loop carrier records, and high-capacity circuits.
Analyze planning documents, field notes, and database information to prepare estimates, routine work orders, and other projects for network growth, relief, customer demand, and damaged outside plant.
During field visits, identify incorrect or unsafe conditions and design appropriate corrective plant configurations.
Track and monitor construction and other departments, including contractors when applicable, to ensure timely completion of engineering work orders and plans.
Use cost-effective methods and multiple databases to address provisioning issues and support timely customer satisfaction.
