About The Position

Domtar is seeking an Engineering and Maintenance Manager for its Hawesville, Kentucky mill. This full-time, permanent role provides strategic leadership to the Maintenance, Reliability, IT, and Engineering teams and is part of the Mill leadership team. The manager develops strategies to improve plant asset reliability and is accountable for mill asset outcomes.

The role oversees maintenance, engineering, and reliability processes and activities to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations, maximum equipment reliability, and asset preservation. It also leads teams, projects, continuous improvement, maintenance systems, and capital planning while managing budgets and performance measures.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience leading and improving maintenance and reliability in an industrial environment, including responsibility for personnel, logistics, production, and workplace safety.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and experience successfully leading and developing a team of engineers.
• Demonstrated success implementing and optimizing reliability maintenance systems and processes.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and facility systems.
• Proven leadership skills, including coaching and developing team members, promoting collaboration and teamwork, and resolving conflict.
• Experience developing and managing budgets to maximize asset reliability.
• Planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects concurrently.
• Computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis tools.
• Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the pulp and paper industry.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of maintenance, engineering, and reliability processes and activities to maximize equipment reliability and preserve assets.
• Ensure planned projects are implemented on time, within budget, and meet their stated objectives.
• Lead preventive, predictive, and reliable manufacturing processes in accordance with One Domtar Standards, and participate in the One Domtar Reliability Functional Team to support continuous improvement of those standards.
• Lead and develop the Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams.
• Manage maintenance costs and the capital project portfolio; prepare budgets, explain variances, and take appropriate action to achieve target results.
• Manage the mill’s CMMS, optimize spare parts and materials inventory and maintenance work to minimize unplanned downtime and operating costs, and ensure MRO inventory meets Domtar working-capital standards.
• Lead continuous improvement of key performance indicators to increase asset life and department budget cost-effectiveness.
• Lead and perform root cause analyses of asset failures and implement actions to improve manufacturing reliability.
• Lead change and drive improvement.
• Be accountable for all mill asset outcomes.
