About The Position

The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) is seeking an Engineer to join the Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) Bureau, specifically within the ERP Compliance Section. This role involves conducting professional-level technical and administrative engineering work to support post-permitting compliance. The successful candidate will apply engineering principles, project management, scientific findings, and environmental laws to evaluate, plan, design, and complete water-related projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies. The District offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring some on-site presence and allowing for remote work, with the condition that the employee must reside in Florida. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Two (2) years related work experience (for Engineer 2)
  • Four (4) years related work experience (for Engineer 3)
  • Valid Florida Professional Engineer license (for Engineer 3)
  • Must live in Florida

Responsibilities

  • Ensure activities are brought into compliance with the state and District rules, including the transfer of construction permits to the operation phase, permit condition violations, expired permits, and unauthorized construction activities.
  • Work closely with Regulatory Support staff (administrative and field services staff) to accomplish tasks as outlined in the rules, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Travel to site meetings in designated District counties.
  • Participate in ERP Bureau projects under the direction of the ERP Compliance Manager, as assigned.
  • Participate in departmental activities and perform other duties as necessary.
  • Perform duties as assigned before, during, and after major storm events and emergency situations such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, which may include normal work functions or other emergency support functions as determined necessary by the District.
