About The Position

The Engineer is responsible for upkeep, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of ice machines, refrigeration units, air handling units, and other equipment, in accordance with Shaner Hotels and franchise standards. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance and requires a strong background in commercial refrigeration, knowledge of ice machines, industrial chiller systems, and air handling units, as well as basic general maintenance knowledge. The ideal applicant is customer-service oriented and willing to go the extra mile to create a memorable guest experience.

The position includes handling guest complaints to ensure satisfaction, maintaining quality and cleanliness standards, following maintenance and cleaning schedules, observing safety and security rules and departmental procedures, and assisting with scheduled inventories. Other duties may be assigned. This is a full-time position with benefits. Evening, weekend, holiday, and varied shifts may be required.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience; hotel experience is preferred.
• Strong background in commercial refrigeration and knowledge of ice machines, industrial chiller systems, and air handling units.
• Basic working knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment critical to building operations and proper chemical handling and disposal.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for work assignments.
• Ability to interact positively with hotel personnel and provide prompt solutions to problems.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

• Franchised hotel experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, perform preventative maintenance on, and troubleshoot ice machines, refrigeration units, air handling units, and other equipment.
• Follow the maintenance program and cleaning schedule, with a primary focus on preventative maintenance.
• Handle guest complaints and work to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Maintain quality and cleanliness standards throughout daily assignments.
• Observe house, safety, departmental, and security rules and procedures.
• Assist with inventories as scheduled.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
