About The Position

The Systems Mechanical Engineer – Balance of Plant (BOP) provides expert-level technical support for the operation, maintenance, testing, and modification of assigned systems and programs. The engineer reviews system, component, and program performance and recommends changes to operation, maintenance, or testing. Responsibilities include compliance monitoring and audits, system and component trending, system walk-downs, corrective action management, and maintaining and adjusting preventive maintenance programs. The position serves as the technical conscience and reliability champion for assigned systems, helping ensure equipment is reliable and ready to support nuclear safety and plant generation. The role is within the Systems Engineering Department and works extensively with other Engineering departments, Operations, Maintenance, Work Control, and Chemistry. BOP systems are associated with the plant’s secondary side and include turbine systems, the main generator, condensate, feedwater, cooling/service water, and radwaste interfaces. The position may support complex plant issues, outage work, emergency response organization (ERO) duties, and travel. It offers a hybrid work schedule between the site and an alternate work location, contingent on business needs and suitable technology and ergonomics.
