About The Position
This is an entry-level electrical engineering position supporting the UNC–Chapel Hill electric system. The Engineer will work alongside other Engineers to learn the electric system, its model, protection calculations, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and alarms. The role may manage small special projects within the engineering group and will work closely with the Operations Engineer. The Engineer will use the Geographic Information System (GIS) to develop EDS switching procedures and will learn to use IBM Maximo work management systems to manage assigned projects, write work, and produce sketches. The position also involves interacting with contractors and designers working on the Electric Distribution System, under management direction. Work schedule: Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

Responsibilities
- Learn the UNC–Chapel Hill electric system alongside other Engineers.
- Manage small special projects within the engineering group, as applicable.
- Become familiar with the electric system model and learn to perform protection calculations.
- Use GIS to develop EDS switching procedures.
- Learn and use IBM Maximo to manage assigned projects, write work, and produce sketches.
- Interact with contractors and designers working on the Electric Distribution System under management direction.
- Become familiar with the SCADA system and its alarms, working closely with the Operations Engineer.
