About The Position

MBP is seeking a part-time Engineer Technician. The posting describes cost-estimating work on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects during preconstruction. The role also supports estimate reviews and reconciliations, change order requests, post-construction cost analyses, coordination of estimating workloads, and the training and development of junior estimators.

Requirements

B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant experience that equates to this degree.
Some experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects.
Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency with BlueBeam and/or other quantity take-off software programs.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the A/E/C industry is preferred.
Additional experience in one or more of the following is desired: general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration.

Responsibilities

Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for multiple trades.
Prepare and present final deliverable documentation to internal estimating leads.
Perform quality checks of fellow team members’ estimates, as needed.
Perform, review, and analyze contractor and/or designer estimates, including estimates involving GMP arrangements.
Support estimate reconciliations with clients and contractors.
Develop and/or review change order requests.
Assist with development and/or analysis of post-construction cost analyses.
Coordinate project workload with other estimating team members.
Participate in training and development of more junior estimators.
