Engineer Technician (Part-Time)
About The Position
MBP is seeking a part-time Engineer Technician. The posting describes cost-estimating work on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects during preconstruction. Additional desired experience includes general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration. The base hourly rate is $28.00 to $32.00; actual compensation depends on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Requirements
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant experience that equates to this degree.
- Some experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects.
- Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with BlueBeam and/or other quantity take-off software programs.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the A/E/C industry.
- Experience in one or more of the following: general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration.
Responsibilities
- Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for multiple trades.
- Prepare and present final deliverable documentation to internal estimating leads.
- Perform quality checks of fellow team members' estimates as needed.
- Perform, review, and analyze contractor and/or designer estimates, with specific experience in GMP arrangements.
- Support estimate reconciliations with clients and contractors.
- Develop and/or review change order requests.
- Assist with development and/or analysis of post-construction cost analyses.
- Coordinate project workload with other estimating team members.
- Participate in the training and development of more junior estimators.
