This Engineer-series position performs complex mechanical engineering work supporting gas turbines and associated Balance of Plant systems. The engineer plans and executes projects; evaluates equipment condition, operating data, inspection findings, and OEM recommendations; and develops practical solutions that meet safety, reliability, cost, schedule, quality, contractual, and regulatory requirements. The role is the primary mechanical engineering interface for equipment condition, failure mechanisms, inspections, repairs, and outage decisions. It coordinates with controls engineers when work involves logic, software, instrumentation, alarms, protection, communications, or system integration. At higher proficiency levels, the engineer provides technical leadership, mentors others, and serves as a mechanical subject matter expert.

Requirements

  • Engineer: 2+ years of relevant engineering experience (A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)

  • Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
  • Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

  • Experience with applicable GE Vernova, Mitsubishi, or Siemens turbine platforms is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot turbine trips, runbacks, abnormal conditions, and issues identified through M&D cases, trends, inspections, and maintenance history.
  • Provide mechanical expertise for gas turbines and fuel gas, lube oil, hydraulic, cooling, inlet, exhaust, and auxiliary systems.
  • Coordinate with controls engineers on logic, software, instrumentation, alarms, protection, and interfaces while retaining mechanical ownership of equipment condition, inspections, failure mechanisms, and repairs.
  • Analyze equipment performance using Excel, PI Vision, TrendMiner, JMP, and other tools.
  • Lead or support RCAs and FMEAs; review OEM reports, TILs, and fleet experience; and communicate recommendations.
  • Plan outage inspections with the OEM and serve as mechanical lead for discoveries, repair decisions, and return-to-service readiness.
  • Develop mechanical scopes for inspections, repairs, replacements, testing, quality, and acceptance.
  • Define mechanical requirements and coordinate controls-related logic, software, instrumentation, communications, and functional testing with controls engineers.
  • Evaluate OEM proposals, repair options, and fleet modifications for technical suitability, lifecycle cost, maintainability, schedule risk, and reliability.
  • Lead fleet reliability and long-range mechanical strategy initiatives and present project, outage, RCA, and FMEA results.
  • Review scope, schedule, pricing assumptions, EWAs, deliverables, and acceptance requirements supporting procurement and contract execution.
  • Develop lifecycle strategies for turbine components and mechanical auxiliary equipment.
  • Provide shop and outage oversight through walkdowns, inspection records, quality reviews, nonconformance resolution, and mechanical acceptance.
  • Track discoveries, schedule impacts, and technical or financial risks; update leadership and align actions with stations and OEMs.
  • Lead outage and fleet meetings and share lessons learned, risks, and recommended actions.
  • Coordinate with contract management when mechanical recommendations affect planned scope, schedule, warranty, or commercial responsibility.
  • Participate in industry groups and share relevant technology and operating experience across the fleet.
