About The Position

Tatham Engineering is seeking an experienced Engineer, Project Manager or Senior Engineer, Project Manager to join their Transportation group. This role will be based out of Barrie or Guelph offices, with consideration for Ottawa or Collingwood. Hybrid arrangements may be considered for experienced candidates. The position focuses on the planning, coordination, design, and delivery of road design and reconstruction projects across Ontario. This is a senior project delivery role requiring expertise in municipal road project design and delivery in Ontario, with a focus on road design, reconstruction, roadway geometry, grading, drainage, roadside safety, utility coordination, subconsultant management, proposal support, budgets, schedules, deliverable review, and client communication. The ideal candidate will have a background in road, highway, and intersection design, as well as municipal infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.).
  • A minimum of 5 or 10 years of progressive experience.
  • Experience with TAC, OPS, OTM, and other applicable Ontario municipal standards.
  • Strong understanding of the process required to advance a road project from initial proposal writing through design, approvals, and tender preparation.
  • Experience coordinating with utility companies, subconsultants, municipalities, approval agencies, and other project stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound technical judgment and a commitment to high-quality deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with roundabouts, active transportation, traffic signals, roadway lighting, traffic calming, and contract administration.
  • Experience with Civil 3D or coordinating Civil 3D design teams.
  • Experience with Municipal Class Environmental Assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary road design and reconstruction projects from proposal through design and tender preparation.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and client communication.
  • Assign, coordinate, and review work prepared by project team members, including drawings, cross sections, cost estimates, staging plans, tender documents, and technical submissions.
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines, subconsultants, utilities, approval agencies, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review proposals, work plans, budgets, schedules, fee estimates, technical correspondence, reports, and design submissions.
  • Conduct quality and constructability reviews.
  • Provide technical direction, training, mentoring, and support to junior and intermediate staff.
  • Assist with workload planning, project resourcing, and continued growth of the Transportation group.
