About The Position

GE Aerospace is seeking a Propulsion Performance Engineer to support the development and testing of flowpaths for hypersonic air-breathing propulsion systems. The engineer will work with a multidisciplinary team to design, analyze, test, and mature propulsion technologies that contribute to flight-ready hardware. This is an early-career role focused on applying engineering fundamentals, analytical methods, and test support to advanced propulsion applications through computational analysis, hardware validation, and cross-functional problem solving. The position supports research and development of fluid delivery systems for hypersonic air-breathing propulsion and vehicle systems. The work includes using computational and test results to inform flowpath design, validating new designs and technologies, and communicating analyses and recommendations to internal teams and external partners. The role is based onsite in Bohemia, New York, or Rockledge, Florida, and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or a high school diploma or GED with at least 6 years of experience in a relevant job family or function.
  • 0–3 years of experience in the design, analysis, and testing of reaction propulsion systems.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply them to technical work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Bohemia, NY, or Rockledge, FL.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ramjet, scramjet, rotating detonation engine concepts, or hybrid/combined-cycle propulsion systems for ground and flight test.
  • Experience with Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) or similar performance software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
  • Humble, respectful, receptive, agile, and eager to learn.
  • Transparent, sharing critical information, communicating with candor, and contributing constructively.
  • Focused, quick to learn, able to prioritize strategically, and committed to results.
  • Leadership ability, including strong communication, sound decision-making, and collaborative teamwork.
  • Analytical, thoughtful problem-solving skills and willingness to challenge existing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, analyze, and test flowpaths for high-speed air-breathing engines, using results to inform flight-ready system design.
  • Apply core engineering principles to technical assignments and flowpath development activities.
  • Lead and participate in computational analyses to guide design improvements using spreadsheet-based tools, propulsion deck generation tools, and results from CFD, FEA, and multiphysics solvers.
  • Document and communicate assumptions, inputs, analysis methods, and proposed solutions for multidisciplinary technical review.
  • Support validation of new designs and technologies through test activities.
  • Prepare presentations and briefing materials to communicate technical ideas, project status, and recommendations.
  • Work with Integrated Product Teams to develop and verify design solutions that meet program objectives for technical performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Interact with industry partners and subcontractors to review analyses, concepts, and design approaches.
  • Understand business drivers and how individual work integrates with team and program goals.
  • Exercise sound technical judgment within defined procedures and seek guidance from senior team members when needed.
  • Build effective working relationships across teams and clearly explain technical information to others.
