About The Position
Venture Global LNG is seeking a Production Engineer for its Production Excellence team in the Arlington, Virginia office. Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Production Excellence, the role supports safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the company’s LNG liquefaction facility. It combines production engineering with digital tools to monitor and optimize plant performance in real time, while supporting program compliance and safe, reliable delivery of production volumes. The engineer will work with Gas Supply, operations, engineering, Commercial Operations, and specialists in business intelligence, data engineering, and machine learning. The role includes developing tools and insights from production systems, using process modeling and simulation to understand and optimize plant performance, supporting day-to-day application of plant models, and contributing to both real-time operational decisions and long-term, high-impact decisions. Travel to Venture Global’s Louisiana LNG facilities is required as needed.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of production or process engineering experience in LNG.
- Demonstrated success improving plant operations using data, analytics, or automation.
- Working knowledge of production systems, control room operations, and key process equipment, such as heat exchangers, compressors, and refrigeration systems.
- Familiarity with data and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, or SAC.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to engage technical and non-technical teams.
- High energy and motivation to excel within the organization.
- Initiative and willingness to go above and beyond.
- A bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering is encouraged for candidates who demonstrate success improving LNG plant operations using data, analytics, or automation; advanced degrees are highly desired.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s or PhD in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with Python or SQL.
- Experience working with business intelligence, data engineering, or IT teams on analytics or digitalization projects.
- Exposure to commissioning or troubleshooting cryogenic or liquefaction systems.
- Understanding of cloud-based tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Data Lakes; training can be provided.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop tools to track and improve LNG production performance, including dashboards, automated reports, and alerts.
- Translate operating data into actionable insights that improve plant reliability, availability, and throughput.
- Automate analysis of production trends, loss events, and deviations from expected performance; support investigations such as root-cause analyses and mitigation planning.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual tracking and reporting processes to improve information accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyze plant data and model outputs to identify optimization opportunities and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Assist in evaluating the impact of process changes, debottlenecking studies, and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and BI Developers to support accurate data flows and fit-for-purpose dashboards.
- Provide insights and technical input to the annual delivery plan, production forecasts, and ongoing performance reviews.
- Share learnings across teams and contribute to standardizing best practices across facilities.
- Travel to Louisiana LNG facilities as needed.
