This individual will be responsible for supporting the operations of Avangrid’s Wind Turbine fleet primarily through failure investigation and troubleshooting. The role serves as a technical liaison in the field to gather data, samples, and observations for failure investigations of wind turbine components and to facilitate resolution of technical issues. The position also provides technical support during investigations into failures and evaluation of operational and performance issues, and supports the development of technical documentation such as service bulletins and work instructions. Additionally, the role supports conference calls with suppliers and meetings with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and service providers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality. The Engineer will review supplier’s root cause failure analysis and corrective action documentation, and support internal efforts to investigate failures and carry out testing and measurement to evaluate potential corrective actions. The position also supports product improvement programs designed to increase wind turbine performance and/or reduce operational costs, and efforts to develop and qualify second and third-tier suppliers and parts. Visits to generating plants and suppliers are required to investigate issues first-hand, and the role involves reviewing and critiquing OEM maintenance practices to ensure sufficiency and proposing modifications where necessary.
