ENGINEER MECHANICAL 3 TURBINE GENERATORS
About The Position
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. The Advanced Propulsion team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced technical leader to spearhead the development of the next generation of fast attack submarines, including the future VIRGINIA Class and SSNX. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design of innovative components and systems, enhancing capabilities, performance, and maintainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;
- Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;
- Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice To Haves
- Specific knowledge of submarine propulsion plant design.
- Direct technical expertise with turbine generators including design of generators, controls, and magnetic bearings.
- Experience in technical writing. Candidate will lead or contribute to the development of written technical deliverables.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
