About The Position

Takeda Development Center Americas, Inc. is seeking an Engineer IV to develop and test new technology and software applications, including robotics, control systems, and mobile vehicles, alongside its HTE & Automation team. The role partners with Chemists, Data Scientists, and Process Modelling SMEs to apply automation tools across the process development lifecycle, replacing routine and iterative manual operations. It contributes to the department’s automation strategy and develops new robotic approaches, while keeping current with emerging trends, technologies, and external communities related to automation, robotics, and cobotics. The Engineer IV collaborates with internal and external partners to develop and deploy next-generation robotic solutions that automate and accelerate SMPD workflows. The position spans robotic projects from planning through implementation and works with Control Engineers to integrate equipment, sensors, and systems using varying communication protocols. It identifies and executes opportunities to accelerate process development, shares robotic best practices across SMPD global sites, and builds an entrepreneurial network to expand automation’s impact across SMPD and PharmSci. The role also analyzes technical issues and coordinates resolutions, maintains relationships with vendors and assists with technical aspects of vendor negotiations, authors relevant sections of regulatory documents, reports, and peer-reviewed manuscripts, and represents Takeda in precompetitive collaborations with academic and industrial partners. The position is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Up to 10% domestic and international travel is required to attend conferences and visit overseas sites, and up to 10% remote work is allowed. The role is full-time, with an estimated salary range of $137,259 to $162,690 per year. U.S. employees may be eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k), paid time off, sick leave, company holidays, incentive compensation programs, and other benefits offered under company policies.
