About The Position

Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. is hiring an Engineer IV, I&C for a direct-hire position based in its Charlotte, North Carolina, or Stonington, Connecticut office. The role is in-office and is not remote. The engineer will perform engineering and design work for power plant upgrades and new power plant projects, drawing on extensive knowledge of plant instrumentation and control strategies, legacy equipment, and digital control system design using current platforms. The position independently plans and prepares modifications; selects and applies standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria; and develops specifications, modification packages, design scope and criteria, control-system functionality and architectures, and I/O device interfaces. It includes selecting control valves and instruments and managing the budget, scope, schedule, and quality of assigned work with minimal guidance. The engineer will coordinate with other design disciplines and customer representatives, review and check designs and drawings prepared by others, contribute to evaluations and modifications that improve plant performance, safety, and reliability, and lead project teams while mentoring junior engineers. The position requires familiarity with nuclear-industry codes and standards and working knowledge of applicable NRC regulations. Travel to client sites is required, with occasional field and office work. Overtime is required at times. The engineer must be able to conduct equipment walkdowns in industrial plant environments, including climbing ladders and entering security-controlled, confined, and controlled hazardous areas. Candidates must pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access. Relocation assistance is not available.
