This position serves as a Design Engineer for roadways, levees and structures within the DOTD District 02 Design, Water Resources/Public Works/Emergency Support Functions (ESF1) Section. Plans, reviews, designs and prepares hydraulic and drainage construction projects. Prepares preliminary and final cost estimates for these projects. Requirements

  • Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
  • Applications will be accepted from applicants who are within 90 days of graduation.
  • The offer of employment will be contingent upon verification and confirmation that the applicant has received a qualifying degree.
  • If selected, the applicant will be eligible to begin work the day after graduation.
  • The selected candidate will be required to submit an official transcript confirming graduation within 60 days of hire.
  • This position may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, engineer Intern 1 or 2, or an Engineer 3,4 or 5.

Nice To Haves

  • This requires knowledge of land surveying techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and reviews, designs and prepares details for roadway, levee, and structural construction projects.
  • Direct and advise survey personnel regarding the gathering and recording of specialized field data required for drainage and hydraulic projects.
  • The incumbent is responsible for designing, supervising and/or directing the preparation of construction plans and proposals for projects
  • Reviews plans and studies prepared by engineering consultants and DOTD Headquarters sections for conformance to DOTD and federal standards.
