Puget Sound Energy•Kent, WA
•$94,300 - $156,900

About The Position

Puget Sound Energy’s Substation Engineering group is seeking an engineer to design controls systems for substations operating at voltages of 12 kV and above. Substation controls include wiring for switchyard equipment, control houses, and control-panel devices up to the protective relays. The role also provides field support and develops project construction drawings, including detailed schematics and wiring diagrams, to integrate relays and other electrical components that operate, protect, and automate the electrical grid. Projects may include brownfield substation equipment upgrades, SCADA integration, greenfield substation design, and emergency equipment replacements. The engineer coordinates closely with System Protection and Relay Engineering and Substation Design. The position provides professional engineering support for planning, construction, operation, maintenance, and analysis of PSE facilities and assets. It schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects, reviews designs and documentation, applies engineering principles to complex assignments, shares knowledge with the engineering workforce, and supports emergency response when needed. The role is safety sensitive and subject to pre-employment drug screening, including screening for marijuana and marijuana metabolites. Specific work arrangements will be discussed during the interview process.
