The Engineer III – Generation Interconnection evaluates new and changing generation across the MISO footprint. The role supports power system studies to determine how generation can reliably interconnect to the transmission system and serves as a technical resource for MISO interconnection customers, Transmission Owners, and neighboring RTOs. It combines power system analysis, problem-solving, customer interaction, and, depending on assignments, coordination of studies from kickoff through completion while keeping stakeholders aligned. The position contributes to system impact studies for generator interconnection requests in MISO’s Generator Interconnection Queue and reviews projects proposed by MISO’s Transmission Owners. Its analyses and recommendations help determine whether generation projects can proceed, what transmission improvements may be needed, and how to maintain system reliability as the generation fleet evolves. The role also provides exposure to customers, Transmission Owners, neighboring grid operators, and internal MISO teams.
