The Engineer II is responsible for responding to and attending to guest repair requests, resolving maintenance issues with minimal supervision, and performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. This role involves visually inspecting tools, equipment, or machines, carrying necessary equipment, and operating all shut-off valves for equipment and buildings. The Engineer II maintains maintenance inventory, requisitions parts and supplies, and ensures effective communication of daily activities and problems across shifts. The position requires proficiency in at least one of several categories (e.g., air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, carpentry) and above-average skills in two more, along with basic skills in the remaining categories. Key tasks include safe use of hand and power tools, basic repair of PVC copper pipe, troubleshooting and repairing various equipment (pumps, motors, plumbing, electrical items, internet devices), programming TVs, and performing general housekeeping and engineering duties. The Engineer II also assists with surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and cleanup. Adherence to the Lockout/Tagout system is mandatory. The role requires working knowledge of engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance and energy management, mid-level troubleshooting of hotel MEP systems, and the ability to train and mentor Engineer I staff, as well as performing Engineer on Duty responsibilities. Additionally, the Engineer II must follow all company and safety procedures, report hazards, complete safety training, maintain professional appearance, confidentiality, and protect company assets. Guest interaction is a key component, including welcoming guests, anticipating needs, assisting those with disabilities, and adhering to quality standards. The role also involves fostering positive working relationships, supporting team goals, and communicating professionally. Physical demands include moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects up to 50 pounds (with assistance for heavier items), moving up and down stairs/ladders, and reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The Engineer II must also be able to use computers for work-related information.
