Engineer II - NPI

IntegerChaska, MN

About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to perform work which involves general engineering methods and tools, potentially utilizing more advanced technologies and engineering concepts while developing in the role of an engineer in the medical device industry. The role ensures that Integer’s internal and external customer expectations are met or exceeded with occasional direction from more experienced engineers and managers. The position adheres to Integer’s Values and all safety, environmental, security, and quality requirements, including Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies, operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements. The engineer will generally work independently with occasional guidance from supervisors or mentors to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications to existing specifications, procedures, and work instructions. Responsibilities include reviewing procedures and plans prior to implementation, evaluating existing products, processes, and materials for failure analysis and potential improvements, and participating in projects that require investigation, development, documentation, and implementation of new product and process technologies of moderate complexity and scope. The role also involves demonstrating proactive insight into technical challenges, mitigating potential issues, or incorporating improvements. Planning, scheduling, and executing engineering work within a part of a major project, or leading a smaller scope project, is expected. The engineer will follow Integer’s standard quality management and production system methodologies to investigate opportunities for product and process improvements, applying standard data analysis practices and techniques to establish root cause for product and process failures or to support justification for improvements. Observing products and processes to recognize discrepancies and following detailed steps to establish root causes are key. Collaboration with others for information exchange, asking questions, and checking for understanding is expected for development. The role emphasizes embedding Quality within the Engineering discipline, assuring adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS), contributing to corrective and preventive actions, and supporting the attainment of quality KPIs and the journey to 5 Sigma. Support for Integer’s Manufacturing Excellence and Market Focused Innovation Strategies is also a component, championing the development and deployment of systems and tools for innovation and continuous improvement, embracing the Manufacturing Excellence culture based on the Integer Production System.
