This role will provide design support across all phases of the design cycle, from preliminary through detailed design, validation, manufacturing, and operational service. The engineer will work on the designs of components within the fan module, such as cases, frames, IBR’s, bypass ducts, and kinematics. The role also supports the existing installed F135 fleet through enhanced commonality and optimization of components to ensure current and future business and customer needs are met. Responsibilities include expanding repairability/maintainability for military customers and MRO facilities, and collaborating with quality clinics and related departments to support the testing and verification of field issues. The engineer will also design and implement common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality, develop data, and make layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals. Additionally, the engineer will design and review component layouts, calculate component stack-ups, and perform major cost studies. The role involves resolving design problems of difficult-to-complex scope, reviewing completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning, and communicating with other engineering personnel to coordinate interrelated designs and ensure project completion.

Requirements

B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 2+ years of Mechanical Design engineering experience
Some experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods
Some experience with engineering standard work and with Class I and/or II EC process
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Responsibilities

Design support across all phases of the design cycle, preliminary through detailed design, validation, manufacturing, and operational service.
