At RTX, the world largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to make a difference solving the world’s most complex problems. With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world. Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems and has been revolutionizing modern flight for over 100 years. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense. This role involves design support across all phases of the design cycle, from preliminary through detailed design, validation, manufacturing, and operational service. The engineer will work on the designs of any component within the fan module, such as cases, frames, IBR’s, bypass ducts, and kinematics. The position supports the existing installed F135 fleet through enhanced commonality and optimization of components to ensure current and future business and customer needs are met. It also involves expanding repairability/maintainability for military customers and MRO facilities, and working with quality clinics and related departments to support the test and verification of field issues. The role includes designing and implementing common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality, as well as developing data and making layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals. The engineer will design and review layouts of components, calculate stack-up of detail components, and perform major cost studies. They will resolve design problems of difficult-to-complex scope to ensure project completion and review completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
