About The Position

As the Engineer II, you will work closely with other software engineers, product managers, and test engineers to design, develop, deploy, and debug Software Development Kits (SDKs), and full stack software applications. You will work closely within our agile software development process and have an important impact on the development and delivery of high-quality software solutions. This role is with our Analytics Capture Platform team, which creates tools to collect, validate and quantify data across the enterprise on our websites, mobile apps, internal tools and other channels. We are seeking a senior engineer with extensive mobile app and web experience with the ability to jump into a variety of different technologies, tools, and systems with ease. In this role, you'll primarily work virtually from home or another non‑Best Buy location. However, you must live within a drivable distance to our corporate campus in Richfield, Minnesota. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team, and the recruiter or hiring manager will provide additional details during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 2+ years experience with React, React Native in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
  • 2+ years experience using REST APIs and/or GraphQL
  • 2+ years experience using DevOps automation tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins), software version control (git), and testing frameworks

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience
  • 3+ years experience with mobile app development
  • 3+ years experience as a senior engineer/team lead, including mentoring and coaching more junior engineers

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements and lead the development, integration, testing, monitoring, and support of tools consumed by product partner teams on BestBuy.com, the Best Buy mobile app, and other internal tools.
  • Evaluate new software technologies (i.e., libraries, frameworks, services) that help development to stay abreast of industry trends and standards.
  • Take ownership of the software we build as a team, with a focus on delivering the best possible developer and user experience for our partners.
  • Coordinate with engineers in other teams to define API contracts, establish working relationships, and debug problems across services.
