About The Position

This is a temporary position with the Department of Environmental Quality, located at 127 Cardinal Drive, Wilmington - New Hanover County. The position will primarily work in the Express Post Construction State Stormwater Program to perform professional engineering work by reviewing express requests and applications to evaluate projects for compliance and eligibility. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be fully qualified for the job.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional engineering work by reviewing express requests and applications to evaluate projects for compliance and eligibility.
  • Provide technical assistance to applicants, consultants, the regulated community, and the general public on projects and inquiries through meetings, phone calls, and written communication.
  • Coordinate with internal staff, federal, state, local agencies, and diverse stakeholder groups during the application review process.
