About The Position

Thank you for your interest in the Engineer I position. This role involves surveying sites and designing electric distribution facilities by staking lines, preparing work orders, and responding to member requests for new service, upgrades, relocations, and system improvements for both overhead and underground facilities. The position also includes preparing work orders for new electric services, system improvements, line extensions, and related distribution projects. The Engineer I will coordinate with members and internal departments to ensure right-of-way clearing and maintenance are completed prior to construction and assist with the acquisition and coordination of utility easements. Responsibilities also include maintaining records of costs associated with underground distribution projects and other non-standard construction practices, providing technical direction to members, developers, and contractors regarding installation requirements, calculating contributions in aid of construction (CIAC), construction costs, and required deposits, and responding to member and contractor inquiries. A detailed job description will be provided during the interview.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline required.
  • Must know electrical theory.
  • Must possess good communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally, effectively, clearly, and pleasantly – both orally and in written form.
  • Proficient computer skills with software applications (Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Survey sites and design electric distribution facilities by staking lines, preparing work orders, and respond to member requests for new service, upgrades, relocations, and system improvements for both overhead and underground facilities, including individual services and subdivisions.
  • Prepare work orders for new electric services, system improvements, line extensions, and related distribution projects.
  • Coordinate with members and internal departments to ensure right-of-way clearing and maintenance are completed prior to construction and assist with the acquisition and coordination of utility easements.
  • Maintain records of costs associated with underground distribution projects and other non-standard construction practices required by municipalities and supports reimbursement calculations and reporting.
  • Provide technical direction to members, developers, and contractors regarding installation requirements for conduit, current transformers, meters, and three-phase transformer pads in accordance with Cooperative standards.
  • Calculate contributions in aid of construction (CIAC), construction costs, and required deposits in accordance with Cooperative policies and procedures and ensure proper application and documentation.
  • Respond to member and contractor inquiries.
