The Engineer I is responsible for responding to and attending to guest repair requests, communicating with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues. This role involves performing preventive maintenance on tools and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspecting tools, equipment, or machines. The Engineer I must be able to carry equipment, identify and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for buildings, and maintain maintenance inventory while requisitioning parts and supplies as needed. Daily activities and problems must be communicated to other shifts using approved programs. The position requires basic knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge in areas such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building maintenance. Duties include surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and thorough cleanup of work areas. The Engineer I will test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on various equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunging toilets, unclogging drains), electrical components, and guestroom items. Other tasks include programming TVs, performing general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties, and using the Lockout/Tagout system. Repairs on interior and exterior landscaping and sprinklers are also part of the role. Basic computer skills for inputting air handler schedules and making temperature changes are required. The role also entails following company safety and security policies, reporting maintenance problems, hazards, accidents, or injuries, completing safety training, and properly storing flammable materials. Maintaining a professional appearance, confidentiality, and protecting company assets are essential. The Engineer I is expected to welcome and acknowledge guests, anticipate and address their needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests. Adherence to quality standards, developing positive working relationships, supporting team goals, and clear professional communication are also key aspects. Physical demands include moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, and heavier tasks with assistance, as well as moving up and down stairs, ramps, and ladders, and reaching overhead and below the knees.
