About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is hiring an Engineer I for its Engineering Development Program in Materials & Processes Engineering and Mechanical Disciplines. The role supports development, analysis, testing, and other engineering functions for engine components, materials, and chemical processes used in commercial and military engine applications. Work may include mechanical testing, structural analysis or structural software tool development, materials analysis, metallurgical or chemical analysis, inspection processes, and coating property analysis. The engineer documents and analyzes data and results, prepares reports and presentations, and draws conclusions and recommendations. The position is part of Pratt & Whitney’s accelerated Engineering Development Program for college undergraduate and graduate hires. Participants typically complete three to four rotations over 30 months, supported by discipline-specific training, to build technical breadth and leadership abilities. Rotations may involve materials development; materials and engine component analysis; process and analytical chemistry; non-destructive evaluation; mechanics of material and component behavior; fatigue and fracture mechanics; vibration and high-cycle-fatigue analysis; system strength modeling; materials property and process modeling; and material data analysis and applications to engine design. After the program, participants are expected to move into a group aligned with their longer-term career goals and interests. This is an onsite, U.S.-based role in East Hartford, Connecticut. U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens may access information under the program or contract. No security clearance is required.
