About The Position

This role involves performing physical design, grading and site design, or structural design of electrical power substations or transmission lines. Responsibilities include assisting in the creation of drawings, specifications, and contract documents for construction, fabrication, or site grading. The position also entails assisting senior engineers in research, engineering studies, and the evaluation of materials. Specific duties vary by level (I, II, III), with higher levels involving more independent work, development of new design specifications, and potential representation of engineering on corporate teams. Engineer II and III roles focus on electrical power substations, with Engineer III requiring independent work under technical guidance and assisting in training new associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Engineer I: Zero (0) to one and a half (1.5) years of experience.
  • Engineer II: One and a half (1.5) years of design or maintenance experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Engineer III: Three (3) years of design experience, preferably in the electric utility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of EIT preferred (for Engineer III).

Responsibilities

  • Performs physical design, grading and site design, or structural design of electrical power substations or transmission lines.
  • Assists in the creation of drawings, specifications, and contract documents for construction, fabrication, or site grading.
  • Assists senior engineers in research, engineering studies, and the evaluation of materials.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard design techniques, procedures, and criteria, making adaptations and modifications.
  • May represent engineering as an internal part of a corporate team on assignments with clear and specific objectives (Engineer III).
  • Assists in the training of new design associates (Engineer III).
  • Develops new design specifications for approval by the senior engineer (Engineer III).
