About The Position

The Construction and Commissioning Mechanical Engineer Level I is an entry-level role that supports construction and commissioning activities across power generation projects, while contributing to the development and improvement of mechanical installation and commissioning procedures. The primary focus of the role is to support site execution through timely resolution of technical issues, including supporting resolution of field technical issues (PARs, RFIs/TQs), assisting with construction and commissioning challenges, and supporting procedures creation and updates. The engineer serves as a key interface between site teams TFAs (Technical Field Advisors), Engineering, Quality, and Suppliers, ensuring that issues are resolved efficiently and in alignment with OEM requirements, contract specifications, and field conditions. In parallel, the role supports the development of procedures, ensuring that lessons learned from site execution are captured and integrated into future deliverables. This role supports Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle (CCGT), and Combined Heat and Power (CCHP) projects and is expected to develop technical knowledge while operating with moderate supervision.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or a Technical diploma from a college or university would be an asset.
  • 0-3 years of experience in power generation, construction, industrial operation, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools (Primavera P6), ISO procedures, and OSHA requirements is an asset
  • English proficiency required. Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, drawings, and standards.
  • Additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese) are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate developing independence while applying standard engineering methods and techniques with moderate supervision
  • Support the resolution of PARs, RFIs/TQs, and field technical issues by gathering data, coordinating with stakeholders, and assisting in technical evaluations.
  • Assist in reviewing field conditions and providing basic engineering input to support safe and compliant execution
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) activities and assist in implementing solutions aligned with design and procedures
  • Assist in the development and review of mechanical erection and commissioning procedures, including interpretation of engineering documents (P&IDs, drawings, specifications)
  • Capture lessons learned from field execution and support updates to standard procedures.
  • Review mechanical engineering designs, including P&IDs, general arrangements, isometrics, and foundation drawings
  • Develop familiarity with gas and steam turbine construction, including skids, modules, piping, valves, and structural components
  • Support understanding of auxiliary systems such as lubrication systems, fuel gas systems, and air cooling systems
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support construction and commissioning activities.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide basic technical input under guidance.
  • Ensure awareness and adherence to safety standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations with supervision
  • Support review of equipment specifications and supplier documentation.
  • Assist with procedure clarification for site teams during construction and commissioning.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and internal processes (e.g., CAPA, procedure updates).
